I started out my morning with a FREE pastry from Starbucks, it was free I had to do it! I love their reduced fat chocolate chip banana bread- a whopping 390 calories. Nice one Lauren, nice. I figured I should eat it for breakfast so I can burn it off throughout the day. EVERYTHING in moderation people!
By request, a friend of mine wanted me to blog about my favorite weekday breakfast, oatmeal! I recently got into eating it for breakfast and snacks. I have gotten very creative with my oats and come up with some yummy ideas to spice up boring oatmeal….
I took Quaker Maple Brown Sugar oatmeal and added some fresh mangos, 1 packet of sweet and low, and cinnamon.
I drizzled some honey on top too (sometimes I add 1 tbsp of peanut butter and mix it in)…
I love fresh fruit in my oatmeal, it really adds something to the plain oats and I love something chewy or crunchy in the smooth oats. If I don’t have fresh fruit on hand then I use frozen fruit. My favorite is adding frozen blueberries to my oatmeal and they melt in the hot oatmeal- my Grandma taught me that!
As shown above I took regular store bought Quaker oatmeal and added raisins and freeze dried bananas. You can find freeze dried bananas and other kinds of freeze dried fruit at Trader Joes. The bananas are my favorite in my oatmeal and they add a great crunch. I basically create any concoction I’m in the mood for, some of these ideas may sound gross to you so make your oats however you want!
Now, onto another hangover breakfast! My friend Stephanie and I went to the West Egg Cafe this past weekend and had a feast!!!!!!
I ordered the Myron & Phil’s Scramble. Lox, grilled onions and eggs scrambled together, served with a bagel, cream cheese and potatoes. I made the bagel and cream cheese into and sandwhich with the eggs- DELISH! I should have ordered egg whites but I wasn’t feeling so hot, I needed the real deal.
Stephanie ordered two Eggs with english muffin and potatoes with turkey sausage. YUM!
Save the best for last… Cheesy potatoes, a heart attack on a plate. Also, the best hangover cure!
