BPE=Biggest Post Ever

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend! I couldn’t wait to post my BPE from The Taste of Chicago. For those of you who don’t know, the Taste of Chicago is a 10-day food festival were Chicago’s most popular restaurants prepare their most popular culinary delights. My friend Danielle came in town this weekend so I obviously had to take her to The Taste!
We made a stop at The Bean to take some silly pictures…

We got to the Taste and it was super crowded!

We weren’t worried… we were on a mission!
We started with an Italian beef sandwich…
We got it with hot peppers, sausage, and dipped in the juice! Italian beef is my favorite…
I am one HAPPY gal :-)

Side note: I loved that each vendor had “taste” portions, which were smaller portions. Danielle and I wanted to try EVERYTHING so we shared the taste portions to get a bite of everything. Taste portion of cheese fries!
Taste portion of a cheese burger from Billy Goat
Cheese deep dish pizza from Lou Malnati’s
We were on the lookout for a Chicago Style hot dog. We found Gold Coast dogs!
Mmmmmm! Taste portion of a Chicago style hot dog
This man was holding a HUGE hot dog. He was nice enough to let me take a picture of him holding his dog!
I saw this woman with some juicy watermelon…
I HAD to get my hands on some of that!
BEST watermelon ever!
Benefits of Watermelon:
*Has Powerful Antioxidants: excellent source of vitamin C and vitamin A through its concentration of beta-carotene.
*Contains Lycopene: reduces risk of prostate cancer and heart disease. Those who eat foods containing lycopene are much less likely to suffer a heart attack then those who don’t.
*Energy Production: rich in the B vitamins which is necessary for energy production.

There was no way we were eating a turkey leg, but I had to get a picture of one!
WOW!

Taste portion of beignets…fresh out of the fryer!
Taste portion of Mac and cheese. This was alright… I could have done without it.
Taste portion of Eli’s Cheesecake with caramel sauce. AWESOME!
The Taste of Chicago was so much fun! Danielle and I had a blast! My favorite items we tried were the Italian beef sandwich and the Eli’s cheesecake.
Who went to the Taste of Chicago this weekend?
I’m going to leave you with a hilarious video that my friend Blair made this weekend while at a BeerBQ…

Have a great day!
