Home for the holidays

Good morning! I hope you all had a great holiday weekend… I celebrated my 25th birthday with my family and friends, it was perfect and I wouldn’t have had it any other way!

Out with some girlfriends Friday night!!!!

I love my friends!!!!

Yesterday I went to my parents house to help my Mom make mandel bread and strudel. It was so much fun and a great way to bond with my Mom and learn how to make family recipes!
For those of you who don’t know Mandel Bread is a Jewish desert cookie similar to a biscotti because it is twice baked. My mother makes the BEST mandel bread which was my grandma’s recipe.
My Mom makes two kinds of mandel bread: chocolate chip and raisin & nut. She sprinkles both kinds with cinnamon sugar! Mmmmmmm

Rolling the dough into a ball to create a log shape shown below…
Ready to go in the oven!

Baking in the oven… it smelled amazing!!!!!
After the mandel bread is baked through the first time, we cut it up into diagonal pieces.
Ready to go back in the oven for round 2!

Finished product! Can you see the cinnamon sugar?

Gosh I love this stuff!!!! I think I ate about 10 pieces yesterday alone!
Chloe was waiting for some mandel bread to drop on the floor…

Tomorrow I will post more photos of my Mom and I making homemade strudel which has been a family tradition for years!
Have a great day!!!!
