Crock Pot Turkey Chili!

Good morning Chicago! It’s only been December for a few hours and already it’s snowing. My window looks like a snow globe, it’s kind of pretty and I’m not even a fan of snow!
Last night I put my new crock pot to use and cooked up a big batch of chili for my friends! My friend Brittany gave me this awesome recipe that she got from her Mom… Thanks Debbie :-)

I altered the original recipe using ground turkey instead of chicken.
Slow cooking chili turkey stew (with my modifications for the crock pot)
1 1/2 pounds of ground lean turkey breast1 chopped red onion1 green bell pepper diced1 red bell pepper diced1 yellow bell pepper diced4 garlic cloves minced3 (14.5 oz) cans of mexican-style stewed tomatoes2 (15 oz) cans of pinto beans1 (16 oz) jar of medium salsa 3 teaspoons of chili power2 teaspoons of ground cumin
In a big skillet saute the peppers and onions until tender. Add the ground turkey and break up with a spatula. Cook the veggies and turkey until browned.

Put the turkey and veggie mixture in the crock pot. Add the tomatoes, beans, salsa, chili powder, and cumin. Mix well. Cover and cook on high for 4-6 hours or on low for 7-8 hours.

I absolutely LOVED using the crock pot. It was so easy to use and my apartment smelled amazing! I did all the dirty work in the morning so I didn’t have a huge mess to clean up later.
My friend Brittany made her signature Cesar salad with homemade dressing! She’s the Cesar salad master!
Since I haven’t been working, I’ve been cooking! I love to entertain and now that I have the time, I am so happy to cook and share recipes with my friends.
Now that it’s winter, I am definitely going to use the crock pot as often as I can to make chili’s, stews, soups, and more.
Have a great hump day!
