10 ways to burn more calories

Without even trying…

1) Hosting a dinner party

Between trips to the grocery store, carrying heavy bags, and setting the table. You can easily burn cals and also please your crowd.

2) Cleaning
Care to mop? Trying getting on your hands and knees and scrubbing your floors. Vacuum the carpets, dust the blinds, clean the shower, and wash your dishes by hand. Why spend money on a cleaning service when you can clean and get a workout?!

3) Gardening
I absolutely LOVE gardening and it’s tough work! From shoveling to the actual planting, you can really break a sweat. Try gardening in a squat position to burn even more calories.

4) Shopping
Try walking instead of taking a cab, take the stairs instead of the elevator. From walking around and lugging heavy bags of goodies, you’re bound to burn cals and of course get some retail therapy.

5) Apple picking/pumpkin carving
It takes a lot of effort to run around the apple orchard and find the right apples you want to pick. Let’s not forget having to reach up high to get the good ones. Use some extra effort and carve your own pumpkins. Scoop out the seeds and bake them for a yummy snack. Believe it or not you can break a sweat, those pumpkins aren’t easy to grasp!

6) Walking your dog
It’s beautiful outside! Take your dog to the park and play catch. If you’re really ambitious, give your dog a bath, it burns tons of calories especially if you’re dog won’t sit still!

7) Organizing your closet
You can easily burn calories while folding clothes, re-arranging your hanging goods, and re-organizing your shoe rack. Every 6 months I put the clothes I don’t want into garbage bags and lug them to the salvation army. It’s a pain in the butt but totally breaks a sweat.

8) Sleeping
You can burn up to 500 calories in your sleep if you aim between 7-9 hours. Getting less sleep slows your metabolism. Tip: Try sleeping in cooler temperatures. Your body has to burn calories to create heat.

9) Going out of your way
To the bathroom, to the copy machine, or to get a coffee. I walk to and from work every single day. Why not? It burns calories and saves money. 

10) Wearing Heels
Not only does it help tone your legs, but it helps burn more calories because you have to use more effort when you walk.
