As I mentioned in Monday’s post, apparently a way to a man’s heart is through booze.
My man has been asking me to make him rum apple cider ever since the weather got cooler. I’m not a big apple cider kinda gal so I never had a burning desire to make it, but I knew I could figure it out.
With a little help from a friend, I made this fancy spiked cider.
Spiked Apple Cider
- 2 cups apple cider (I used Trader Joe’s)
- 4-5 orange slices
- 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1-1/2 cups rum (any kind you like)
On medium to low heat combine the apple cider, pumpkin pie spice, and orange slices until heated through (about 5-10 minutes). Add the rum. Ladle hot cider into mugs and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
We curled up on the couch with this warm, cozy cocktail and slept very well that night.
