What I Want Wednesday: Tall Gladiator Sandals

There’s something about this trend that I absolutely love. I’m a huge fan of tall boots and over the knee boots. I don’t know what it is but they make me feel confident. I have long legs for my height (I’m 5’3), most people think I’m taller than I am. When I wear tall boots they give the illusion that I’m not only taller but they make my legs look skinnier- swear!

When tall gladiator sandals started popping up everywhere I got super excited! I can’t wait to purchase a pair to wear with jean shorts, dresses, and skirts. I want all of the sandals below- which one’s should I buy?!

Falling for Flannel

When I think of flannel I think back to the 4th grade when I wore it with my dr martens thinking I was the coolest girl in school. A couple of months ago when I saw flannel coming back I never thought I would get into it… ew flannel, wtf.

What I realized is that you have to wear it right. Flannel is perfect for this weird in between weather. Throw it over a t-shirt and wear it open (see above), tuck it into leggings with otk boots, or tucked into a pencil skirt with a blazer and heels. To be honest, it’s a great way to keep cozy while still looking chic. What are your thoughts on flannel?

I always look forward to casual Fridays in the office. Not only is Friday the best day of the work week it means that I can wear jeans! I just got this pair a couple of weeks ago and I love them. They are soft, comfortable, and figure flattering. I feel like they suck me in! I could literally wear them 10 days in a row and not get tired of them. They are the mid-rise skinny leg jean. They are worth the investment because you will wear them to death!

Speaking of J Brand, you can purchase them for 25% off from now until October 21st at Saks Fifth Avenue. It’s their Friends & Family event. Yay! Have a fabulous weekend!

The Best Boots for Fall

Capture.PNG10 Capture.PNG3 Capture.PNG4 Capture.PNG5 Capture.PNG6 Capture.PNG7 Capture.PNG2 Capture.PNG8 Capture.PNG1 Capture.PNG9 It’s October! I can’t believe how fast September FLEW by. Chicago has been super lucky, the weather has been amazing. It’s supposed to get up to 82 today and I’ll take it! As the weather cools down I put my sandals and flip flops in the back of my closet and bring out my boots. I personally believe boots are a great investment. Not only because they are awesome but because you wear them 6-8 months out of the year. Well worth it if you want to splurge on a pair of Stuart Weitzmans– I’ve had my eye on these bad boys! Lately I’ve been wearing my booties with jeans, leggings, or skirts. I can wear them dressy at the office and casual for a night out. I also looooove over the knee boots, I think they are so sexy and flattering on everyone. Do you have your eye on a pair of boots your dying for? Do tell!

Latest Trend: Overalls

Capture Capture.PNG2 Capture.PNG3 Capture.PNG4 Capture.PNG5 Capture.PNG6 Capture.PNG7 Let’s discuss overalls. I remember wearing them in the second grade thinking I was so cool with my high top sneakers, and bangs. Those were the days. Fast forward 20 years later and I have to say, I might be willing to go for round two with the overalls. I love how fashion trends from every decade come back. After all, they are convenient because of all the pockets you can use as storage. You also don’t really have to think about much when wearing them, all you need is a top and you’re good to go! SO, are you a fan? Did you ever wear them the first time around?

The Natural Way: My All Natural Style and Beauty Secrets

Having natural style and beauty comes from within. I feel that it’s all about how you take care of yourself and your body with the foods you eat, the products you use, and your mental state of mind. I sometimes like to think of my body as a well oiled machine, I need to give it the best nutrients and keep it strong every single day. As important as it is to take care of your body on the inside, it’s just as important on the outside. Below are my #AllNaturalStyleSecrets that help me be the best I can be.

IMG_4537 1) I try to avoid processed foods at all costs. The thought of putting that garbage in my body grosses me out and I can barely read the ingredients on the labels. I try to eat as organically as possible and choose brands that are made with all natural ingredients. I always purchase organic meat, that is something I will never change.

2) I workout out 3-4 days a week (depending on my schedule). This is a great way to relieve any stress that’s going on in my life. This is also the one hour I take to focus on myself and make it all about me. I like to challenge my body and push my limits. The workouts I do are very challenging, but that’s the only way I’m able to see results. It feels really good when my clothes fit me better. It makes me feel more confident and that my hard work is paying off.

3) No matter what I’m doing or where I am, I always moisturize. It’s super important to keep skin as hydrated as possible. I started using Seventh Generation Skin Serum and I am in love with the Revitalizing Boost Serum. I mix it in with my moisturizer. It’s become a great addition to my skincare routine to prevent and treat fine lines. One of the best features, it won’t clog pores! YAY! This is a plant based formula, so I know I’m not allowing any harsh chemicals to seep in my skin. Seventh Generation has a line of 6 skin boosting serums and are sold at your nearest Walgreens!

seventh-generation-boosts-1-537x402 4) As I’ve mentioned before, I take extremely good care of my hair. I don’t use any heat on my hair during the week and it’s helped my hair grow faster and stronger. I’m not even kidding, my hair has gotten so long! I only wash my hair twice a week to avoid dryness since my hair is color treated. My current favorite hair products are Bumble and Bumble Seaweed Shampoo, Kerastase Lait Vital Conditioner, Moroccan Oil Hair Mask (once a week), Kerastase Elixir Oil, and It’s a 10 Miracle Leave In Product. I purchase most of these products on Amazon since they can be less expensive on there.

5) I have a very simple style. I like to wear basics and pair them with something bold such as a colorful blazer, statement jewelry, or bag. I like to build my outfits either around the statement piece or start with a basic and build around that. Whatever it is, I always find that when I try really hard it never turns out the way I want. When I throw together an impromptu outfit, it always ends up working out. I have the hardest time dressing for in between weather where it’s too warm to wear a jacket but chill enough to wear long sleeves. Lately, I’ve been doing lots of layering to make sure I’m prepared for all weather!

Disclosure: I received a free sample of this product from Lucky and Seventh Generation for use in connection with this blog.

Celebrity Airport Style

The time change always throws me off. When I travel for work I like to look professional yet comfortable. A lot of my co-workers wear their full suit on the plane but I don’t like to do that. I don’t want my clothes to get wrinkled from sitting and there a big chance I could spill on myself. I will usually wear my street clothes on the plane and change when I get to the hotel or in the airport bathroom if I have to. I decided to browse around at celebrity airport style to get inspiration for future business trips. What’s your airport style?

Motorcycle Jackets

Motorcycle Jackets- Fall

Alexander Wang / Acne Studios leather jacket / Marc by Marc Jacobs leather jacket / Acne Studios leather jacket / Rag & Bone leather jacket / Joie

The best thing about the motorcycle jacket is its versatility. Wear it with skinny jeans, a tank, and ankle booties for an everyday look. Create an edgily polished look by pairing it with a pencil skirt and stilettos. It’s also a great layering piece that will last for another few months if you put a sweater underneath and a long scarf on top. There is so much you can do to make the motorcycle jacket a closet staple for fall and into winter. What do you think? Are you going to add the motorcycle jacket to your wardrobe?

It’s not fall yet…

So why was it so cold last weekend? I don’t understand. It’s not leather jacket time yet, and we will have plenty of that. I really wish that I could have been wearing cute little shorts or a romper but it was just too darn cold out! I wore this outfit on Saturday night for an engagement party. J loves it when I wear my hair natural like this. All I do is add 2 pumps of Kerastase Elixir Oil on wet hair, air dry, and spritz with Not Your Mother’s Sea Salt Spray. It’s so easy and you don’t need any heat!

Look for Less

Screen Shot 2013-07-26 at 4.25.18 PM I’ve been eyeing the Isabel Marant Carol sandals for months. They are so darn cute and I love the blocked stacked heel. I just can’t justify spending that much on sandals which I wear 3 months out of the year. I stumbled upon these Jeffrey Campbell sandals that look identical and are a quarter of the price. While I would love to purchase the real deal, the similar version look just as fabulous. Which would you choose?
