February Skinny Tips

It’s the coldest month of the year and all I want to do is curl up on my couch with a giant deep dish pizza. I don’t walk nearly as much because of the frigid temperatures and I find myself being lazier than ever! Does anyone else find themselves to be extremely lazy in the winter?

One of the things that is working for me is working out on my lunch break. Barre Bee Fit has an awesome 45 minute lunch class that totally kicks my butt. I don’t have to wake up early and I can still go to happy hour after work. I’ve found that working out on lunch gives me a mid day break to get away from the  office and focus on myself. I also come back to work refreshed with more energy.

Below are my skinny tips for February. They are easy to incorporate into your lifestyle and will save you calories everyday!

  • Get off the subway/train one stop early and walk the rest to your destination
  • If you’re craving sugar put on vanilla scented lotion- the sweet smell will eliminate the cravings
  • Take pictures of your food, you can look back on what you ate for the day and see how you did
  • Eating out: when you start to feel full, put your napkin over your plate. If you don’t see the remaining food, you won’t eat it. Your server will know that your finished and take your plate away.

The Side Braid

Last night was Madonna night at Barre Bee Fit. This is where they play Madonna songs all evening long during class and the instructor dresses up. Two weeks ago was Britney Spears night and they also had Lady GaGa night. What a great way to make class fun!

I love themed nights. It’s so great to listen to songs you know by your favorite artists. It’s also a fantastic motivator to help get you through the tough parts of class.

Speaking of tough, I almost didn’t make it though class because I had the worst heartburn of my life. It literally feels like my entire chest is on fire. I’ve taken everything under the sun and drank ginger ale at my desk and nothing helped!

Has anyone experienced terrible heartburn pain before? UGH it’s the worst!

The Side Braid

I’ve been wearing my hair in a side part lately but my bangs have been in my face and annoying. I decided to experiment and put my hair in a side braid.

Treadmill Dancing

Good morning! I woke up at 5:30am and did a challenging cardio workout and strength training. I won’t be able to workout after work today so I decided to be ambitious and get it over with!

I did a funky dance cardio routine on the treadmill by Tracy Anderson. I still can’t figure out how to insert a video into my posts so click here to check out the video.

I did a variation of this routine for 30 minutes combining skipping, leaps, step hops, and sashays (which were the hardest!) At first this workout looked SO easy but when I got on the treadmill this morning I didn’t think I could make it after 10 minutes.

After my 30 minutes of cardio, I went back to my apartment and did these videos:

Seat Work

Arms (the first half)

Abs

I am exhausted and sore.

I ended my workout with a glowing green smoothie!

The perfect way to start the day after my workout.
