Go to bed earlier: Your brain needs at least 7-9 hours to recharge and rest up for the next day. The longer, the better. I try my best to get in bed by 10pm. If I fall asleep by 10:30 that gives me a full 8 hours of sleep. It’s not easy but it really does help.
Do everything the night before: Pick out your clothes, pack your lunch, pack your gym bag, curl your hair, etc. If you do everything the night before, it’s less you have to do in the morning and more time you have to sleep/putz.
Set your alarm earlier than normal: I set my alarm an hour and a half before I have to get in the office. This is great if you like to snooze. I only let myself snooze one time (which is new for me).
Hit the lights: As soon as I wake up in the morning I turn on all the lights. It sucks but it helps me wake up especially when it’s still dark outside. Before J and I moved in together I would also blast the news.
Turn on the coffee maker: The smell of coffee instantly wakes me up. After I turn on the lights, coffee is the second thing I do.
Give yourself enough time: Make sure you give yourself enough time for your commute. This goes back to what time you wake up. If I know it takes me 15 minutes to get to work, I make sure I’m out the door 20 minutes before I have to get there. I give myself an extra 5 minutes to be on the safe side.
