Office Chic

The dress code at my office is business professional Monday-Thursday and casual on Friday (my fave). I like to look professional yet stylish by pairing a simple blazer with dress pants, skirts, and dresses and then jazzing it up with some jewelry  During the summer the office has the air conditioning on full blast so a blazer or cardigan is a necessity.

On another note, I decided to get ombre hair again. I did it last year and I wasn’t sure if I wanted it again. My colorist went a bit lighter than last time and I’m loving it! I go to George at Charles Ifergan on Oak Street, he does amazing work.

I’m off to my friends Bachelorette party in Wisconsin for the weekend. Have a great weekend!

Black on Black

I honestly have no idea how I put this outfit together. It was one of those days where I rolled out of bed and threw something on. I usually go for an all black look when I’m in a hurry, you can never go wrong with black. Black also looks slimming on anyone.

To look more professional for work, I buttoned the collar of my blouse and paired it with a sparkly necklace. Whenever I wear one color, I like to jazz it up with a statement piece.

Decked in Theory

Happy happy happy Friday! Geeze it’s been a long week.

A large portion of my wardrobe includes Theory mainly because of my Mother. She is the Theory representative at Saks Fifth Avenue and always picks out the cutest pieces for me. A few months back I was leaving on business travel and I mentioned I had nothing to wear for my meetings. She picked out the Theory top below, wrapped it up, and had it ready for me to pick up on my way to the airport. Now that’s what I call the best Mom ever! She is so knowledgeable about the line and has such a passion for what she does.

I wore this outfit to work the other day. I love how this peplum top fits me. It’s a trendy yet conservative enough for the office. I got a TON of compliments on it from my co-workers. The pants I am wearing are a great staple for the office. They are navy skinny dress pants also by Theory.

It was my second day in Barcelona and I knew I was going to be doing a lot of walking. I made sure to wear comfortable shoes and loose clothing for walking around. It was a bit chilly so I wore my leather jacket and scarf to keep me warm. With in between weather in the 40’s and 50’s, the key is layering.

DSCN2460 As I mentioned in my last post, I studied abroad in Barcelona back in 2007- my junior year of college. It was so cool to visit my brother who is studying there right now. As soon as we arrived I felt back at home for except I completely forgot how to navigate the city. I had no problem taking the metro (their underground subway) but finding my way around again was more challenging than I thought. One minute I thought I knew exactly where I was and then realized I was walking in the wrong direction. I even had a hard time finding my old apartment! Although it was the first time in 7 years that I’ve been back it was weird that I forgot how to get around the city I once lived in.

Have you ever gone back to visit a city you once lived in and got completely lost? I hope that doesn’t happen to me when I go back to visit IU!

Must Have Monday: Texts from Jan

After many months of hassling my computer illiterate Mother (aka Jan) to guest post on Newtrition, I decided to take this matter into my own hands and post the photos she has sent me via text over the past month.

As most of you know my Mom is a personal shopper and stylist at Saks Fifth Avenue. I completely rely on her for all things fashion. Pretty much Jan will send me a text message with an article of clothing she thinks I will like.

99% of the time I usually want it and tell her to charge it to my account. Ok, ok, I don’t have an account but it’s our little inside joke which turns into me writing her a big fat check.

Not only do I plan to purchase or really really want to purchase these items, but they are also some of  the hottest fashion items for winter. Sharing is caring.

Theory Crushed Velvet Blazer

I got this blazer to wear to work. It’s perfect for the winter!

Jan says it’s very Ralph Lauren.

I told Jan that my next winter coat MUST have a hood. This jacket has a HUGE hood and I love the belt!

Stay tuned for more texts from Jan! I apologize that the picture quality is low, I’m working with Jan to try and take better photos.

Have a great day!
